INNSBRUCK’S

CENTRAL STATION –

A SIGNIFICANT BUILDING

A

Österreichs größtem Mobilitätsdienstleister gehen Hand in Hand

Ausflüge in Tirols schöne Berge.

I

n 1858, Innsbruck’s first train station was built. Travelers chan-

ged from horse-drawn carriages to steam locomotives. What

might have been an admired building in the 19th century, was

too old-school for the 20th century. So it was rebuilt, but didn’t sur-

vive the bombings in the end of the Second World War. Today it is

standing again – imposing and functional. The new building was

opened in 2004. 450 trains arrive here daily and 25,000 commuters

pass through the central station’s modern hall, which meanwhile

offers a lot of purchase possibilities as well as comfortable cafés

and restaurants. The security team guarantees safety and the cen-

tral location offers an excellent starting point for visiting the city of

Innsbruck and its beautiful surrounding Alpine world.
