o wie im Winter die Adrenalinsüchtigen die Freeride-City Inns-

bruck beleben, ist unsere Stadt im Sommer Zentrum der Klet-

terszene. Ob Martinswand, Kletterarena auf der Nordkette oder

Routen in den umliegenden Bergen mit allen Schwierigkeitsgraden –

die Climber’s City bietet nicht nur sportliche Herausforderungen, son-

dern auch das entsprechende Rahmenprogramm von Szenelokalen

bis zur Alpinmesse Ende Oktober. Tipps zum Thema Klettern erhal-

ten Sie von einem unserer bekanntesten Alpinisten, David Lama, der

in dieser Ausgabe porträtiert wird.

Eines dieser Szenelokale, der Innkeller, befindet sich in Innsbrucks

ältestem Stadtteil Anpruggen, heute Mariahilf und St. Nikolaus ge-

nannt. Dort findet man Multikulti-Lokale und Geschäfte mit beson-

derem Flair in mittelalterlicher Architektur, wenn man den Weg über

die Innbrücke wagt. Belohnt wird das mit einer Entdeckungsreise ab-

seits von touristischen Trampelpfaden … die man auch in den Süden

des Stadtzentrums zum neu gestalteten Wiltener Platzl unternehmen

kann. Dort haben sich neben traditionellen Geschäften und Gasthäu-

sern kleine und feine Boutiquen und Lokale angesiedelt – der Bauern-

markt am Samstagvormittag ist bereits Kult.

In dieser Ausgabe finden Sie noch viel mehr Anregungen, wie Sie

Ihre Zeit in unserer Stadt verbringen können – von einem Ausflug auf

die Mutterer Alm bis zum Golfangebot in der herrlichen Umgebung

von Igls, Lans und Mieming oder mit einem Besuch der Promenaden-

konzerte, die im Juli Blasmusik aus aller Welt und auf höchstem Ni-

veau ins historische Zentrum Innsbrucks bringen. Ob Kultursommer

oder Bergsport, ob Sehenswürdigkeiten oder Shopping – der Sommer

in Innsbruck und seinen Feriendörfern hat viel zu bieten und ich bin

mir sicher, dass auch für Sie genau das Richtige dabei ist, um Ihre Zeit

in der Hauptstadt der Alpen unvergesslich zu machen, und Sie anregt,

bald wieder zurückzukommen.

uring winter, it is the adrenaline junkies, who bring Innsbruck‘s

free ride scene to life, whereas in summer, our city is a mecca

for climbing enthusiasts. Whether the climbing area at Mar-

tinswand, the Nordkette or the routes in the surrounding mountains -

all levels of difficulty are covered. The climber‘s city provides sporting

challenges as well as a corresponding framework programme ran-

ging from trendy nightspots to the trade fair for Alpine products and

trends in the end of October - the Alpinmesse. Receive valuable clim-

bing tips from one of our most popular alpinists, David Lama, who is

portrayed in detail in this edition.

One of the trendy nightspots - the Innkeller - is located in one of

Innsbruck‘s oldest districts. Today, the former Anpruggen is known as

St. Nikolaus and Mariahilf. A lot of multicultural pubs and shops fea-

turing a unique flair in medieval architecture are located here - on

the left bank of the River Inn. A visit to the district away from the Old

Town‘s hustle and bustle is well worth it, as well as a trip to the newly

developed square Wiltener Platzl south of the city‘s centre. This spe-

cial square offers a mix of traditional and modern shops and restau-

rants - don‘t miss out on the farmer‘s market on Saturday morning!

Besides climbing, fine dining and shopping, the city offers plenty

more opportunities for having an awesome time: For example an ex-

cursion to the Mutterer Alm, a game of golf in front of a breath-taking

backdrop in Igls, Lans or Mieming or an evening at the magical Prome-

nade Concerts bringing to town a host of prestigious orchestras, mar-

ching bands, ensembles and choirs.

This was just a taste of what‘s to discover in this year‘s summer edi-

tion. With this in mind, I am confident that you will have a wonderful

stay in the heart of the Alps and hope to welcome you back in the fu-

ture.
