I

t is one of those increasingly rare gems at the heart of an imposing

and glorious landscape. The Olympic region of Seefeld, framed by

the Karwendel, the largest nature park in the eastern Alps, the Wild-

moos natural preserve, and the Wetterstein range, is a haven for all

those who are looking for the extraordinary, and who are looking for it

in one place. It is for a very good reason, or rather many reasons, that

the region belongs to a selected circle of exclusive holiday destina-

tions in the Alps. Less than thirty minutes from Innsbruck, and also re-

ached easily by train, the sun-kissed high plateau is situated at 1,200

meters above the sea. A paradise for hedonists, nature lovers, sports

buffs, and also for those in search of a special shopping experience,

the pedestrian zone of the town of Seefeld after all being one of the ol-

dest in all of Tyrol. Here originality meets modernity and, surrounded

by numerous shops, boutiques, cafés and bars, extend an open invita-

tion to come and take a pleasurable stroll. Regional traders and family

businesses offer comprehensive service and a hearty welcome, perso-

nal advice here still comes first. And thanks to a great choice of top

brands, no one will go away disappointed. Browsing and shopping in a

laid-back and quiet atmosphere, far from any hustle and bustle, that

has become a rare experience these days. But here it can still be found.

Seefeld is not only known for its pedestrian zone, though, but also

for its excellent hotels and restaurants. Gourmets are sure to find ever-

ything here their heart could desire, from the exclusive decorated cui-

sine all the way to traditional Tyrolean fare. Moreover, more than sixty

chalets and alps in the region serve delicious snacks, the so-called Jau-

se. Which usually is well earned, be it after an extensive shopping tour

or after sporting exercise, which the plateau offers a wealth of options

for. Hikers, water rats, golfing enthusiasts, mountain bikers, or clim-

bers are sure to get their money‘s worth. There is something special,

out of the ordinary, for everyone, also for fans of wellness, and that is

what makes the region such a feast of pleasures for many.

In addition to the many sporting activities and recreational oppor-

tunities, both for body and mind, the Olympiaregion Seefeld also has

to offer a great number of top events. Besides a great number of con-

certs with a wide variety of artists, there are also quite a few culinary

highlights. The Seefelder Dienstagsmarkt (Tuesday market), for instan-

ce, which takes place between 6 June and 5 September in Seefeld‘s pe-

destrian zone, is legendary for its regional delicacies. Savory, sweet,

fruity, or hearty fare will be served at the Strudelfest of the Seefeld re-

staurateurs on 9 July. And on 29 July, the Seefeld charities are celebra-

ting their Dorffest. On 17 July, the motto of the town will be Shopping

& Wine, with some of Austria‘s top winegrowers presenting their latest

creations in various locations throughout the pedestrian zone from 4

p.m. What makes the event truly special is the perfect combination of

wine tradition and fashion, which can be discovered here in the most

delightful manner imaginable.

Another fashionable event follows on 14 August 2017. The White Night

– Fashion & Lifestyle Party this year too takes place in the pedestrian zone

of Seefeld. For this occasion, the center of the village transforms itself into

a large stage, with the dress code „all in white“. Several fashion shows pre-

senting the latest trends, the party following them, and the fireworks all

in white have become a true Seefeld summer highlight.

Tradition takes center stage at the Seefelder Handwerksfest

(craft fest), that is held every year, on the second weekend in Octo-

ber (this year the 9 and 10 October). It presents traditional craft-

work and keeps alive the knowledge about materials and work pro-

cesses passed on for generations. Around 1,500 participants, at

more than one hundred stalls, among them quill embroiderers, bas-

ket weavers, and goldsmiths, are happy for visitors to watch them

at their work. While mountain pine oil distillers and herb specia-

lists enlighten them on the healing powers of nature. Other Seefeld

event highlights are the historic tractor parade, which besides vin-

tage tractors also presents historic tools, as well as the large pro-

cession in traditional costumes with more than 800 participants.
