We are overloaded by advertising – especially when it comes to vacations. Advertising is idea-
lized, contains perfectly beautiful images and a language that I don’t always want to hear. All
mountain lakes are emerald green, the mountain world is always fascinating, panoramas are
awe-inspiring and everywhere unbelievable things can be explored. Well, it is kind of true: Ma-
ny places are beautiful.

In times of the Internet and social media user behaviour has changed. Users exchange expe-
riences and know where they can find the real information – unadorned, honest and authen-
tic. The word is a bit worn out, but it is fitting, for what I mean: Bloggers. They are insiders, who
tell stories from their point of view, or people, who really know the city, because they live and
work there. When I travel somewhere, I want to get to know culture and people; I want to ex-
plore the city, as it is. Websites and advertising magazines mostly show an exaggerated picture
of the real world.

The Innsbruck Blog is a platform, where bloggers write their unadorned, honest stories. Every
writer chooses a different topic and visitors of the blog often follow particular bloggers. One
writes about bouldering, climbing or via ferratas and reveals his personal favourites. Another
one knows where to get the best food – better than any restaurant guide. There are also speci-
alists for art and culture, who might know nice, little theatres or good insider events. Also the
topic tradition is covered, because customs are all over Innsbruck. Then there are also the ex-
traordinary things that no one knows about like the Jugendstil sauna, excellent confectioners,
wild dragons, rustic inns, alpine gourmet restaurants, craft beer pubs, wild and romantic val-
leys or even the best places to kiss. On top of that, people discuss the topics and users ex-
change their experiences. There is also space for jokes, opinions and feelings. This is what makes
the stories so interesting to read. The Innsbruck Blog – this is social media of a modern
destination.

I can only highly recommend the Innsbruck Blog to everyone - provided that someone wants
to discover the Innsbruck of the locals besides all the important sights. But even regarding the
sights, there might be one or two little insider stories. I am not exaggerating, this blog is ama-
zing. If you still have your doubts, here is the proof: The Innsbruck Blog was nominated for
the ‘T.A.I. Werbe Grand Prix 2014/15”, which is a competition for tourism advertising media.
