across a desk.” He hit the nail on the head. Golf is remarkably complex
and not only a matter of technique, but also a matter of mind. It is pretty
much like any other sport: As long as the player is ambitious enough, he
will be rewarded. According to the American professional golfer Lee Tre-
vino golf is “the greatest pleasure one can have with his pants on”.
Innsbruck and its surroundings aren’t exactly a mecca for golf players,
but yet the beautiful golf resorts will make every golf player’s heart beat
a little faster. There are several golf courses that distinguish themselves
with an excellent structure in front of a breath-taking backdrop. Igls, Lans
and Rinn in the south of Innsbruck and the sunny Mieminger Plateau of-
fer outstanding golf experiences. Each of them has its own unique charm.
❶
Golfpark Mieminger Plateau
The 27-hole Mieminger Plateau golf course combines beautiful nature
and a friendly atmosphere to create a superb golfing experience in the
Alps. With a length of 6599 metres, it is one of the longest golf facili-
ties in Austria. The approximately 70-hectar golf course was designed by
Keith Preston and boasts 18 holes amid a beautiful pine forest. The wide
fairways of the well-maintained championship course are optimal for
most golfers and invite to powerful drives (handicap limit: 36). The views
from the fast greens definitely make up for some unsuccessful putts. At
the highest point of the champion course a special attraction awaits the
golfer: Like an eagle‘s nest the rustic Alpine hut “Stöttlalm” dominates
green 9 and the mountain lake. Hikers are welcome as well.
Your second option at the Mieminger Plateau is the 9-hole park
course, where precise iron shots and a good short game are necessary. It
takes only about one and a half hours and you can always squeeze it in -
even if you have a busy schedule. Nevertheless, both courses have some-
thing in common: A great ambience with stunning panoramic views of
the surrounding mountain world. Ultimate tranquillity, vitalising forest
air and breath-taking impressions make golfing a truly unique experi-
ence here.

Olympia Golf
The sunny plateau of Igls at the foot of the famous Olympia Mountain
Patscherkofel has its own unique flair. It reflects the young and mod-
ern side of Tyrol. In line with the motto “Pay & Play”, golf enthusiasts can
enjoy the golf course with its fast greens and neat fairways without en-
trance fee and club membership from March to November. The 9-hole-
course (a handicap of 54) with a length of approximately 1.4 kilometres
can be played in about one and a half hours. The challenging par 3 and
par 4 courses entice the novice golfer but also engage the more ac-
complished one. Furthermore, a spacious driving range with 40 partly
covered teeing grounds equipped with track tree divider provides var-
ied exercise possibilities for those who want to give golfing a go and
for those who want to improve their skills under professional guidance.
Fully Qualified PGA Professionals offer courses for each age group. One
particular highlight are the VIP courses with individually arranged times
and a maximum of two participants.

Golfclub Innsbruck Igls
The Golf Club Innsbruck-Igls consists of two courses in a unique setting –
the 9-hole course in Igls and the 18-hole course in Rinn. Both provide the
perfect mix of relaxation, enjoyment, sport and an unforgettable nature
experience. The 18-hole championship course in Rinn lies on the hillside
of the majestic mountain Glungezer and provides a challenging Alpine
golf experience within stunning surroundings from April to October. Roll-
ing greens create a dramatic scene to compliment all your golf games.
The romantic 9-hole complex in Lans is located in a park-like landscape
amidst fir trees, deciduous trees and fruit trees. It is open from March to
November. The course itself captivates by virtue of a seemingly easy fair-
way track and, at a normal rate, can be played in a good 90 minutes. En-
